Uzbekneftegaz chief geologist Nodir Muhiddinov has confirmed that the joint Ustyurt plateau project with SOCAR and BP has completed seismic surveys across all six Karakalpakstan blocks but has not yet found a single deposit. One exploration well is planned for next year at depths exceeding 5,000 metres, where pressures and temperatures demand equipment available from only a handful of companies worldwide.
