Apple has introduced a new family of smart-home accessories called Home Collection, developed in partnership with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The lineup includes video-surveillance cameras, a smart video doorbell, an electronic deadbolt lock, a thermostat and temperature sensors — all designed to be set up and managed through an iPhone, the Home app or Siri.

The collection’s stated premise is simplicity: every device shares a single minimalist design language, supports the Thread low-latency mesh protocol and can operate independently or as a coordinated system. Apple describes one scenario in which the system automatically locks the front door, activates the cameras and adjusts the thermostat when the last person leaves the house, then reverses those actions — warming the rooms and unlocking the door — as the owner approaches on the way home.

“Apple Home Collection gives people the confidence to choose accessories for their smart home,” said Matthew Costello, Apple’s vice-president of hardware engineering, in a statement attributed to him in the source material. “Working closely with industry leaders LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, we built every device to work flawlessly with Apple Home, delivering simple, reliable and private control of the home.”

LG’s camera system

LG is responsible for the video hardware and has produced four devices, all shooting at 2.5K resolution. The cameras can recognise people, pets, vehicles and packages. Event recordings are stored in iCloud+ for ten days; no separate cloud subscription for the cameras is required beyond an eligible iCloud+ plan. Where Apple Intelligence is active, it can automatically generate text descriptions of recorded events and allow users to search footage using plain-language queries.

The camera range includes the LG Video Doorbell, which carries two lenses to cover both visitors and deliveries. The Floodlight Cam is an outdoor unit with two built-in projector-style lights that switch on automatically when motion is detected. The compact Outdoor Cam captures colour footage at night. The Indoor Cam has a motorised lens: it rises automatically to monitor a room when no household member is present and lowers — stopping recording — when someone returns home. All cameras include onboard storage so recording continues even if the Wi-Fi connection drops.

Ultra Wideband deadbolt

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband technology to detect when the owner is approaching and unlocks automatically if a paired iPhone or Apple Watch carrying a digital key is present. The lock also supports tap-to-unlock via NFC, PIN-code entry and a concealed physical key slot. It logs door-open events and tamper attempts, and temporary access can be granted to guests through the Home app.

Apple has not yet announced retail pricing or availability dates for the Home Collection. The thermostat and temperature sensors mentioned in the product description were not detailed further in the announcement materials.
