A Chinese company is preparing to enter Uzbekistan’s taxi market with plans to introduce 5,000 vehicles and launch its own ride-hailing application.

The announcement comes as Russia’s Yandex Go maintains a dominant position in the country’s taxi industry.

According to First Deputy Transport Minister Mamanbiy Omarov, the Chinese investor intends to begin operations in the near future. However, the company’s identity, launch date, and proposed fares have not yet been disclosed.

The development follows major disruptions to Yandex Go services in October 2026, which increased demand for competing platforms, including Uklon and MyTaxi.

Could the new Chinese operator challenge Yandex Go’s dominance? And what would increased competition mean for local taxi companies, passengers, and drivers?

Watch the video for a closer look at Uzbekistan’s evolving ride-hailing market.
